June 26, 2009....Friday....yesterday, after I finished several things in town, we decided it was time for a little road trip....Bob and Susan, the other camp hosts here, are originally from Maine....so they are giving us inside information about what to see that we have not already found....we had not been to the Rangeley and Rumford areas....so we packed up our tenting stuff and all three animals and hit the road yesterday....we arrived at Rangeley Lake State Park in the mountain region in time to set up our tent and cook dinner over the fire....we set up a cat condo in the Jeep....their two pet carriers and litter box and food and water dishes and their cat beds....they were very good....Hannah stayed in the tent with us....we had not replaced our busted air mattress so we used our yoga mats for a pad and the two sleeping bags....and we can tell you, first hand, that a yoga mat is not enough padding between your hips and the hard earth.....but we don't intend to do that again....and regardless, we had a great time....by the time we got it all set up and dinner cooked, it was thundering and threatening rain....so we moved everything not in the Jeep to the tent.....and went to bed....it rained all night....our tent held nicely....and we are so grateful a moose did not walk over us and our tent last night....this is a wonderful park and they are looking for a camp host, if anyone out there is interested...... ....we went on a walk early this morning while we were drinking our coffee....a favorite thing to do....
.....the morning light was exceptional...especially since we went thinking it was at least a 50 percent chance of rain.....

....it was 88 in the Rumford area this afternoon and 60 when we returned to Camden Hills....lots of sea fog....and I just love it....much prefer the 60 degree weather.....glad to be back home to our own bed tonight.... have a busy day tomorrow.....
